The Use of Spiritual Gifts
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware.1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.1 Brothers and sisters, I don't want there to be any misunderstanding concerning spiritual gifts.1 Now concerning spiritual things, brothers, I don't want you to be ignorant.1 But concerning spiritual manifestations, brethren, I do not wish you to be ignorant.
2 You know that when you were pagans, you were led astray to the mute idols, however you were led.2 Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.2 You know that when you were unbelievers, every time you were led to worship false gods you were worshiping gods who couldn't even speak.2 You know that when you were heathen, you were led away to those mute idols, however you might be led.2 Ye know that when ye were of the nations ye were led away to dumb idols, in whatever way ye might be led.
3 Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus is accursed"; and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.3 So I want you to know that no one speaking by God's Spirit says, "Jesus is cursed." No one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.3 Therefore I make known to you that no man speaking by God's Spirit says, "Jesus is accursed." No one can say, "Jesus is Lord," but by the Holy Spirit.3 I give you therefore to know, that no one, speaking in the power of the Spirit of God, says, Curse on Jesus; and no one can say, Lord Jesus, unless in the power of the Holy Spirit.
4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit.4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.4 There are different spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit gives them.4 Now there are various kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit.4 But there are distinctions of gifts, but the same Spirit;
5 And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord.5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.5 There are different ways of serving, and yet the same Lord is served.5 There are various kinds of service, and the same Lord.5 and there are distinctions of services, and the same Lord;
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
6 There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons.6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.6 There are different types of work to do, but the same God produces every gift in every person.6 There are various kinds of workings, but the same God, who works all things in all.6 and there are distinctions of operations, but the same God who operates all things in all.
7 But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.7 The evidence of the Spirit's presence is given to each person for the common good of everyone.7 But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the profit of all.7 But to each the manifestation of the Spirit is given for profit.
8 For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit;8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;8 The Spirit gives one person the ability to speak with wisdom. The same Spirit gives another person the ability to speak with knowledge.8 For to one is given through the Spirit the word of wisdom, and to another the word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit;8 For to one, by the Spirit, is given the word of wisdom; and to another the word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit;
9 to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit,9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;9 To another person the same Spirit gives [courageous] faith. To another person the same Spirit gives the ability to heal.9 to another faith, by the same Spirit; and to another gifts of healings, by the same Spirit;9 and to a different one faith, in the power of the same Spirit; and to another gifts of healing in the power of the same Spirit;
10 and to another the effecting of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues.10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:10 Another can work miracles. Another can speak what God has revealed. Another can tell the difference between spirits. Another can speak in different kinds of languages. Another can interpret languages.10 and to another workings of miracles; and to another prophecy; and to another discerning of spirits; to another different kinds of languages; and to another the interpretation of languages.10 and to another operations of miracles; and to another prophecy; and to another discerning of spirits; and to a different one kinds of tongues; and to another interpretation of tongues.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills.11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.11 There is only one Spirit who does all these things by giving what God wants to give to each person.11 But the one and the same Spirit works all of these, distributing to each one separately as he desires.11 But all these things operates the one and the same Spirit, dividing to each in particular according as he pleases.
12 For even as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ.12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.12 For example, the body is one unit and yet has many parts. As all the parts form one body, so it is with Christ.12 For as the body is one, and has many members, and all the members of the body, being many, are one body; so also is Christ.12 For even as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of the body, being many, are one body, so also is the Christ.
13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.13 By one Spirit we were all baptized into one body. Whether we are Jewish or Greek, slave or free, God gave all of us one Spirit to drink.13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bond or free; and were all given to drink into one Spirit.13 For also in the power of one Spirit we have all been baptised into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bondmen or free, and have all been given to drink of one Spirit.
14 For the body is not one member, but many.14 For the body is not one member, but many.14 As you know, the human body is not made up of only one part, but of many parts.14 For the body is not one member, but many.14 For also the body is not one member but many.
15 If the foot says, "Because I am not a hand, I am not a part of the body," it is not for this reason any the less a part of the body.15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?15 Suppose a foot says, "I'm not a hand, so I'm not part of the body!" Would that mean it's no longer part of the body?15 If the foot would say, "Because I'm not the hand, I'm not part of the body," it is not therefore not part of the body.15 If the foot say, Because I am not a hand I am not of the body, is it on account of this not indeed of the body?
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
16 And if the ear says, "Because I am not an eye, I am not a part of the body," it is not for this reason any the less a part of the body.16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?16 Or suppose an ear says, "I'm not an eye, so I'm not a part of the body!" Would that mean it's no longer part of the body?16 If the ear would say, "Because I'm not the eye, I'm not part of the body," it's not therefore not part of the body.16 And if the ear say, Because I am not an eye I am not of the body, is it on account of this not indeed of the body?
17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole were hearing, where would the sense of smell be?17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?17 If the whole body were an eye, how could it hear? If the whole body were an ear, how could it smell?17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole were hearing, where would the smelling be?17 If the whole body were an eye, where the hearing? if all hearing, where the smelling?
18 But now God has placed the members, each one of them, in the body, just as He desired.18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.18 So God put each and every part of the body together as he wanted it.18 But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body, just as he desired.18 But now God has set the members, each one of them in the body, according as it has pleased him.
19 If they were all one member, where would the body be?19 And if they were all one member, where were the body?19 How could it be a body if it only had one part?19 If they were all one member, where would the body be?19 But if all were one member, where the body?
20 But now there are many members, but one body.20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.20 So there are many parts but one body.20 But now they are many members, but one body.20 But now the members are many, and the body one.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
21 And the eye cannot say to the hand, "I have no need of you"; or again the head to the feet, "I have no need of you."21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.21 An eye can't say to a hand, "I don't need you!" Or again, the head can't say to the feet, "I don't need you!"21 The eye can't tell the hand, "I have no need for you," or again the head to the feet, "I have no need for you."21 The eye cannot say to the hand, I have not need of thee; or again, the head to the feet, I have not need of you.
22 On the contrary, it is much truer that the members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary;22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:22 The opposite is true. The parts of the body that we think are weaker are the ones we really need.22 No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary.22 But much rather, the members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary;
23 and those members of the body which we deem less honorable, on these we bestow more abundant honor, and our less presentable members become much more presentable,23 And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.23 The parts of the body that we think are less honorable are the ones we give special honor. So our unpresentable parts are made more presentable.23 Those parts of the body which we think to be less honorable, on those we bestow more abundant honor; and our unpresentable parts have more abundant propriety;23 and those parts of the body which we esteem to be the more void of honour, these we clothe with more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness;
24 whereas our more presentable members have no need of it. But God has so composed the body, giving more abundant honor to that member which lacked,24 For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked.24 However, our presentable parts don't need this kind of treatment. God has put the body together and given special honor to the part that doesn't have it.24 whereas our presentable parts have no such need. But God composed the body together, giving more abundant honor to the inferior part,24 but our comely parts have not need. But God has tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to the part that lacked;
25 so that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another.25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.25 God's purpose was that the body should not be divided but rather that all of its parts should feel the same concern for each other.25 that there should be no division in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another.25 that there might be no division in the body, but that the members might have the same concern one for another.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
26 And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.26 If one part of the body suffers, all the other parts share its suffering. If one part is praised, all the others share in its happiness.26 When one member suffers, all the members suffer with it. Or when one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.26 And if one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; and if one member be glorified, all the members rejoice with it.
27 Now you are Christ's body, and individually members of it.27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.27 You are Christ's body and each of you is an individual part of it.27 Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.27 Now ye are Christ's body, and members in particular.
28 And God has appointed in the church, first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, various kinds of tongues.28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.28 In the church God has appointed first apostles, next prophets, third teachers, then those who perform miracles, then those who have the gift of healing, then those who help others, those who are managers, and those who can speak in a number of languages.28 God has set some in the assembly: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracle workers, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, and various kinds of languages.28 And God has set certain in the assembly: first, apostles; secondly, prophets; thirdly, teachers; then miraculous powers; then gifts of healings; helps; governments; kinds of tongues.
29 All are not apostles, are they? All are not prophets, are they? All are not teachers, are they? All are not workers of miracles, are they?29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?29 Not all believers are apostles, are they? Are all of them prophets? Do all of them teach? Do all of them perform miracles29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all miracle workers?29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all in possession of miraculous powers?
30 All do not have gifts of healings, do they? All do not speak with tongues, do they? All do not interpret, do they?30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?30 or have gifts of healing? Can all of them speak in other languages or interpret languages?30 Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with various languages? Do all interpret?30 have all gifts of healings? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
31 But earnestly desire the greater gifts. And I show you a still more excellent way.31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.31 You [only] want the better gifts, but I will show you the best thing to do. 31 But earnestly desire the best gifts. Moreover, I show a most excellent way to you.31 But desire earnestly the greater gifts, and yet shew I unto you a way of more surpassing excellence.
