The Impartiality of God
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
1 Therefore you have no excuse, everyone of you who passes judgment, for in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things.1 Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.1 No matter who you are, if you judge anyone, you have no excuse. When you judge another person, you condemn yourself, since you, the judge, do the same things.1 Therefore you are without excuse, O man, whoever you are who judge. For in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself. For you who judge practice the same things.1 Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, every one who judgest, for in that in which thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.
2 And we know that the judgment of God rightly falls upon those who practice such things.2 But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.2 We know that God's judgment is right when he condemns people for doing these things.2 We know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things.2 But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth upon those who do such things.
3 But do you suppose this, O man, when you pass judgment on those who practice such things and do the same yourself, that you will escape the judgment of God?3 And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?3 When you judge people for doing these things but then do them yourself, do you think you will escape God's judgment?3 Do you think this, O man who judges those who practice such things, and do the same, that you will escape the judgment of God?3 And thinkest thou this, O man, who judgest those that do such things, and practisest them thyself, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
4 Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?4 Do you have contempt for God, who is very kind to you, puts up with you, and deals patiently with you? Don't you realize that it is God's kindness that is trying to lead you to him and change the way you think and act?4 Or do you despise the riches of his goodness, forbearance, and patience, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?4 or despisest thou the riches of his goodness, and forbearance, and long-suffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads thee to repentance?
5 But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;5 Since you are stubborn and don't want to change the way you think and act, you are adding to the anger that God will have against you on that day when God vents his anger. At that time God will reveal that his decisions are fair.5 But according to your hardness and unrepentant heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath, revelation, and of the righteous judgment of God;5 but, according to thy hardness and impenitent heart, treasurest up to thyself wrath, in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
6 who WILL RENDER TO EACH PERSON ACCORDING TO HIS DEEDS:6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds:6 He will pay all people back for what they have done.6 who "will pay back to everyone according to their works:"6 who shall render to each according to his works:
7 to those who by perseverance in doing good seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life;7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:7 He will give everlasting life to those who search for glory, honor, and immortality by persisting in doing what is good. But he will bring7 to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory, honor, and incorruptibility, eternal life;7 to them who, in patient continuance of good works, seek for glory and honour and incorruptibility, life eternal.
8 but to those who are selfishly ambitious and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, wrath and indignation.8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,8 anger and fury on those who, in selfish pride, refuse to believe the truth and who follow what is wrong.8 but to those who are self-seeking, and don't obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, will be wrath and indignation,8 But to those that are contentious, and are disobedient to the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there shall be wrath and indignation,
9 There will be tribulation and distress for every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek,9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;9 There will be suffering and distress for every person who does evil, for Jews first and Greeks as well.9 oppression and anguish, on every soul of man who works evil, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.9 tribulation and distress, on every soul of man that works evil, both of Jew first, and of Greek;
10 but glory and honor and peace to everyone who does good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:10 But there will be glory, honor, and peace for every person who does what is good, for Jews first and Greeks as well.10 But glory, honor, and peace go to every man who works good, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.10 but glory and honour and peace to every one that works good, both to Jew first and to Greek:
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
11 For there is no partiality with God.11 For there is no respect of persons with God.11 God does not play favorites.11 For there is no partiality with God.11 for there is no acceptance of persons with God.
12 For all who have sinned without the Law will also perish without the Law, and all who have sinned under the Law will be judged by the Law;12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;12 Here's the reason: Whoever sins without having laws from God will still be condemned to destruction. And whoever has laws from God and sins will still be judged by them.12 For as many as have sinned without law will also perish without the law. As many as have sinned under the law will be judged by the law.12 For as many as have sinned without law shall perish also without law; and as many as have sinned under law shall be judged by law,
13 for it is not the hearers of the Law who are just before God, but the doers of the Law will be justified.13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.13 People who merely listen to laws from God don't have God's approval. Rather, people who do what those laws demand will have God's approval.13 For it isn't the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law will be justified13 (for not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
14 For when Gentiles who do not have the Law do instinctively the things of the Law, these, not having the Law, are a law to themselves,14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:14 For example, whenever non-Jews who don't have laws from God do by nature the things that Moses' Teachings contain, they are a law to themselves even though they don't have any laws from God.14 (for when Gentiles who don't have the law do by nature the things of the law, these, not having the law, are a law to themselves,14 For when those of the nations, which have no law, practise by nature the things of the law, these, having no law, are a law to themselves;
15 in that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them,15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)15 They show that some requirements found in Moses' Teachings are written in their hearts. Their consciences speak to them. Their thoughts accuse them on one occasion and defend them on another.15 in that they show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience testifying with them, and their thoughts among themselves accusing or else excusing them)15 who shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts accusing or else excusing themselves between themselves;)
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
16 on the day when, according to my gospel, God will judge the secrets of men through Christ Jesus.16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.16 This happens as they face the day when God, through Christ Jesus, will judge people's secret thoughts. He will use the Good News that I am spreading to make that judgment.16 in the day when God will judge the secrets of men, according to my Good News, by Jesus Christ.16 in the day when God shall judge the secrets of men, according to my glad tidings, by Jesus Christ.
The Jew Is Condemned by the Law
17 But if you bear the name "Jew " and rely upon the Law and boast in God,17 Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,17 You call yourself a Jew, rely on the laws in Moses' Teachings, brag about your God,17 Indeed you bear the name of a Jew, and rest on the law, and glory in God,17 But if thou art named a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast in God,
18 and know His will and approve the things that are essential, being instructed out of the Law,18 And knowest his will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law;18 know what he wants, and distinguish right from wrong because you have been taught Moses' Teachings.18 and know his will, and approve the things that are excellent, being instructed out of the law,18 and knowest the will, and discerningly approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law;
19 and are confident that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,19 And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness,19 You are confident that you are a guide for the blind, a light to those in the dark,19 and are confident that you yourself are a guide of the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,19 and hast confidence that thou thyself art a leader of the blind, a light of those who are in darkness,
20 a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of the immature, having in the Law the embodiment of knowledge and of the truth,20 An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law.20 an instructor of ignorant people, and a teacher of children because you have the full content of knowledge and truth in Moses' Teachings.20 a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of babies, having in the law the form of knowledge and of the truth.20 an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, having the form of knowledge and of truth in the law:
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
21 you, therefore, who teach another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach that one shall not steal, do you steal?21 Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?21 As you teach others, are you failing to teach yourself? As you preach against stealing, are you stealing?21 You therefore who teach another, don't you teach yourself? You who preach that a man shouldn't steal, do you steal?21 thou then that teachest another, dost thou not teach thyself? thou that preachest not to steal, dost thou steal?
22 You who say that one should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples?22 Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?22 As you tell others not to commit adultery, are you committing adultery? As you treat idols with disgust, are you robbing temples?22 You who say a man shouldn't commit adultery. Do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples?22 thou that sayest man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?
23 You who boast in the Law, through your breaking the Law, do you dishonor God?23 Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God?23 As you brag about the laws in Moses' Teachings, are you dishonoring God by ignoring Moses' Teachings?23 You who glory in the law, through your disobedience of the law do you dishonor God?23 thou who boastest in law, dost thou by transgression of the law dishonour God?
24 For "THE NAME OF GOD IS BLASPHEMED AMONG THE GENTILES BECAUSE OF YOU," just as it is written.24 For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.24 As Scripture says, "God's name is cursed among the nations because of you."24 For "the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you," just as it is written.24 For the name of God is blasphemed on your account among the nations, according as it is written.
25 For indeed circumcision is of value if you practice the Law; but if you are a transgressor of the Law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.25 For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.25 For example, circumcision is valuable if you follow Moses' laws. If you don't follow those laws, your circumcision amounts to uncircumcision.25 For circumcision indeed profits, if you are a doer of the law, but if you are a transgressor of the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.25 For circumcision indeed profits if thou keep the law; but if thou be a law-transgressor, thy circumcision is become uncircumcision.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
26 So if the uncircumcised man keeps the requirements of the Law, will not his uncircumcision be regarded as circumcision?26 Therefore if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?26 So if a man does what Moses' Teachings demand, won't he be considered circumcised even if he is uncircumcised?26 If therefore the uncircumcised keep the ordinances of the law, won't his uncircumcision be accounted as circumcision?26 If therefore the uncircumcision keep the requirements of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be reckoned for circumcision,
27 And he who is physically uncircumcised, if he keeps the Law, will he not judge you who though having the letter of the Law and circumcision are a transgressor of the Law?27 And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law?27 The uncircumcised man who carries out what Moses' Teachings say will condemn you for not following them. He will condemn you in spite of the fact that you are circumcised and have Moses' Teachings in writing.27 Won't the uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfills the law, judge you, who with the letter and circumcision are a transgressor of the law?27 and uncircumcision by nature, fulfilling the law, judge thee, who, with letter and circumcision, art a law-transgressor?
28 For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh.28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:28 A person is not a Jew because of his appearance, nor is circumcision a matter of how the body looks.28 For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, neither is that circumcision which is outward in the flesh;28 For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, neither that circumcision which is outward in flesh;
29 But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter; and his praise is not from men, but from God.29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.29 Rather, a person is a Jew inwardly, and circumcision is something that happens in a person's heart. Circumcision is spiritual, not just a written rule. That person's praise will come from God, not from people.29 but he is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit not in the letter; whose praise is not from men, but from God.29 but he is a Jew who is so inwardly; and circumcision, of the heart, in spirit, not in letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
