The Doom of Sodom
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
Now the two angels came to Sodom in the evening as Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodom. When Lot saw them, he rose to meet them and bowed down with his face to the ground.1 And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;1 The two angels came to Sodom in the evening as Lot was sitting in the gateway. When Lot saw them, he got up to meet them and bowed with his face touching the ground.1 The two angels came to Sodom at evening. Lot sat in the gate of Sodom. Lot saw them, and rose up to meet them. He bowed himself with his face to the earth,1 And the two angels came to Sodom at even. And Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodom. And Lot saw them, and rose up to meet them; and he bowed down, the face toward the ground,
And he said, "Now behold, my lords, please turn aside into your servant's house, and spend the night, and wash your feet; then you may rise early and go on your way." They said however, "No, but we shall spend the night in the square."2 And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night.2 He said, "Please, gentlemen, why don't you come to my home and spend the night? [You can] wash your feet there. Then early tomorrow morning you can continue your journey." "No," they answered, "we'd rather spend the night in the city square."2 and he said, "See now, my lords, please turn aside into your servant's house, stay all night, wash your feet, and you can rise up early, and go on your way." They said, "No, but we will stay in the street all night."2 and he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house, and lodge, and wash your feet; and ye shall rise up early, and go on your way. And they said, No; but we will pass the night in the open place.
Yet he urged them strongly, so they turned aside to him and entered his house; and he prepared a feast for them, and baked unleavened bread, and they ate.3 And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.3 But he insisted so strongly that they came with him and went into his home. He prepared a special dinner for them, baked some unleavened bread, and they ate.3 He urged them greatly, and they came in with him, and entered into his house. He made them a feast, and baked unleavened bread, and they ate.3 And he urged them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house. And he made them a repast, and baked unleavened cakes; and they ate.
Before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, both young and old, all the people from every quarter;4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter:4 Before they had gone to bed, all the young and old male citizens of Sodom surrounded the house.4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, both young and old, all the people from every quarter.4 Before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, from the youngest to the oldest all the people from every quarter.
and they called to Lot and said to him, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may have relations with them."5 And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.5 They called to Lot, "Where are the men who came to [stay with] you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them."5 They called to Lot, and said to him, "Where are the men who came in to you this night? Bring them out to us, that we may have sex with them."5 And they called to Lot, and said to him, Where are the men that have come in to thee to-night? bring them out to us that we may know them.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
But Lot went out to them at the doorway, and shut the door behind him,6 And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him,6 Then Lot went outside and shut the door behind him.6 Lot went out to them to the door, and shut the door after him.6 And Lot went out to them to the entrance, and shut the door after him,
and said, "Please, my brothers, do not act wickedly.7 And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.7 "Please, my friends, don't be so wicked," he said.7 He said, "Please, my brothers, don't act so wickedly.7 and said, I pray you, my brethren, do not wickedly!
"Now behold, I have two daughters who have not had relations with man; please let me bring them out to you, and do to them whatever you like; only do nothing to these men, inasmuch as they have come under the shelter of my roof."8 Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.8 "Look, I have two daughters who have never had sex. Why don't you let me bring them out to you? Do whatever you like with them. But don't do anything to these men, since I'm responsible for them."8 See now, I have two virgin daughters. Please let me bring them out to you, and you may do to them what seems good to you. Only don't do anything to these men, because they have come under the shadow of my roof."8 Behold now, I have two daughters who have not known a man: let me now bring them out to you; and do to them as is good in your sight: only, to these men do nothing; for therefore have they come under the shadow of my roof.
But they said, "Stand aside." Furthermore, they said, "This one came in as an alien, and already he is acting like a judge; now we will treat you worse than them." So they pressed hard against Lot and came near to break the door.9 And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.9 But the men yelled, "Get out of the way! This man came here to stay awhile. Now he wants to be our judge! We're going to treat you worse than those men." They pushed hard against Lot and lunged forward to break down the door.9 They said, "Stand back!" Then they said, "This one fellow came in to live as a foreigner, and he appoints himself a judge. Now will we deal worse with you, than with them!" They pressed hard on the man Lot, and drew near to break the door.9 And they said, Back there! And they said again, This one came to sojourn, and he must be a judge? Now we will deal worse with thee than with them. And they pressed hard on the man on Lot; and drew near to break the door.
But the men reached out their hands and brought Lot into the house with them, and shut the door.10 But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door.10 The men [inside] reached out, pulled Lot into the house with them, and shut the door.10 But the men put forth their hand, and brought Lot into the house to them, and shut the door.10 And the men stretched out their hand, and brought Lot into the house to them, and shut the door.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
They struck the men who were at the doorway of the house with blindness, both small and great, so that they wearied themselves trying to find the doorway.11 And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.11 Then they struck all the men who were in the doorway of the house, young and old alike, with blindness so that they gave up trying to find the door.11 They struck the men who were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great, so that they wearied themselves to find the door.11 And they smote the men that were at the entrance of the house with blindness, from the smallest to the greatest; and they wearied themselves to find the entrance.
Then the two men said to Lot, "Whom else have you here? A son-in-law, and your sons, and your daughters, and whomever you have in the city, bring them out of the place;12 And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place:12 Then the men asked Lot, "Do you have anyone else here-any in-laws, sons, daughters, or any other relatives in the city? Get them out of here12 The men said to Lot, "Do you have anybody else here? Sons-in-law, your sons, your daughters, and whoever you have in the city, bring them out of the place:12 And the men said to Lot, Whom hast thou here besides? a son-in-law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and all whom thou hast in the city bring them out of the place.
for we are about to destroy this place, because their outcry has become so great before the LORD that the LORD has sent us to destroy it."13 For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it.13 because we're going to destroy this place. The complaints to the LORD against its people are so loud that the LORD has sent us to destroy it."13 for we will destroy this place, because the outcry against them has grown great before Yahweh that Yahweh has sent us to destroy it."13 For we are going to destroy this place, because the cry of them is great before Jehovah, and Jehovah has sent us to destroy it.
Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law, who were to marry his daughters, and said, "Up, get out of this place, for the LORD will destroy the city." But he appeared to his sons-in-law to be jesting.14 And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.14 So Lot went out and spoke to the men engaged to his daughters. He said, "Hurry! Get out of this place, because the LORD is going to destroy the city." But they thought he was joking.14 Lot went out, and spoke to his sons-in-law, who were pledged to marry his daughters, and said, "Get up! Get out of this place, for Yahweh will destroy the city." But he seemed to his sons-in-law to be joking.14 And Lot went out, and spoke to his sons-in-law, who had married his daughters, and said, Up, go out of this place, for Jehovah will destroy the city. But he was as if he jested, in the sight of his sons-in-law.
When morning dawned, the angels urged Lot, saying, "Up, take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or you will be swept away in the punishment of the city."15 And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.15 As soon as it was dawn, the angels urged Lot by saying, "Quick! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or you'll be swept away when the city is punished."15 When the morning came, then the angels hurried Lot, saying, "Get up! Take your wife, and your two daughters who are here, lest you be consumed in the iniquity of the city."15 And as the dawn arose, the angels urged Lot, saying, Up, take thy wife and thy two daughters who are present, lest thou perish in the iniquity of the city.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
But he hesitated. So the men seized his hand and the hand of his wife and the hands of his two daughters, for the compassion of the LORD was upon him; and they brought him out, and put him outside the city.16 And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.16 When he hesitated, the men grabbed him, his wife, and his two daughters by their hands, because the LORD wanted to spare Lot. They brought them safely outside the city.16 But he lingered; and the men grabbed his hand, his wife's hand, and his two daughters' hands, Yahweh being merciful to him; and they took him out, and set him outside of the city.16 And as he lingered, the men laid hold on his hand, and on the hand of his wife, and on the hand of his two daughters, Jehovah being merciful to him; and they led him out, and set him without the city.
When they had brought them outside, one said, "Escape for your life! Do not look behind you, and do not stay anywhere in the valley; escape to the mountains, or you will be swept away."17 And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.17 As soon as they were outside, one [of the angels] said, "Run for your lives! Don't look behind you, and don't stop on the plain. Run for the hills, or you'll be swept away!"17 It came to pass, when they had taken them out, that he said, "Escape for your life! Don't look behind you, and don't stay anywhere in the plain. Escape to the mountains, lest you be consumed!"17 And it came to pass when they had brought them outside, that he said, Escape for thy life: look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain: escape to the mountain, lest thou perish.
 But Lot said to them, "Oh no, my lords!18 And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my LORD:18 Lot answered, "Oh no!18 Lot said to them, "Oh, not so, my lord.18 And Lot said to them, Not so, I pray thee, Lord;
"Now behold, your servant has found favor in your sight, and you have magnified your lovingkindness, which you have shown me by saving my life; but I cannot escape to the mountains, for the disaster will overtake me and I will die;19 Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast showed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:19 Even though you've been so good to me and though you've been very kind to me by saving my life, I can't run as far as the hills. This disaster will overtake me, and I'll die.19 See now, your servant has found favor in your sight, and you have magnified your loving kindness, which you have shown to me in saving my life. I can't escape to the mountain, lest evil overtake me, and I die.19 behold now, thy servant has found favour in thine eyes, and thou hast magnified thy goodness, which thou hast shewn to me in preserving my soul alive; but I cannot escape to the mountain, lest calamity lay hold on me, that I die.
now behold, this town is near enough to flee to, and it is small. Please, let me escape there (is it not small?) that my life may be saved."20 Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.20 Look, there's a city near enough to flee to, and it's small. Why don't you let me run there? Isn't it small? Then my life will be saved."20 See now, this city is near to flee to, and it is a little one. Oh let me escape there (isn't it a little one?), and my soul will live."20 Behold now, this city is near to flee to, and it is small: I pray thee, let me escape thither is it not small? and my soul shall live.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
He said to him, "Behold, I grant you this request also, not to overthrow the town of which you have spoken.21 And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken.21 The angel said to him, "Alright, I will grant you this request too. I will not destroy the city you're talking about.21 He said to him, "Behold, I have granted your request concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow the city of which you have spoken.21 And he said to him, Behold, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow the city of which thou hast spoken.
"Hurry, escape there, for I cannot do anything until you arrive there." Therefore the name of the town was called Zoar.22 Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do anything till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.22 Run there quickly, because I can't do anything until you get there." (The city is named Zoar [Small].)22 Hurry, escape there, for I can't do anything until you get there." Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.22 Haste, escape thither; for I cannot do anything until thou art come there. Therefore the name of the city is called Zoar.
The sun had risen over the earth when Lot came to Zoar.23 The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar.23 The sun had just risen over the land as Lot came to Zoar.23 The sun had risen on the earth when Lot came to Zoar.23 The sun rose upon the earth when Lot came to Zoar.
Then the LORD rained on Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven,24 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;24 Then the LORD made burning sulfur and fire rain out of heaven on Sodom and Gomorrah.24 Then Yahweh rained on Sodom and on Gomorrah sulfur and fire from Yahweh out of the sky.24 And Jehovah rained on Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire from Jehovah out of heaven,
and He overthrew those cities, and all the valley, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground.25 And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.25 He destroyed those cities, the whole plain, all who lived in the cities, and whatever grew on the ground.25 He overthrew those cities, all the plain, all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew on the ground.25 and overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew upon the ground.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
But his wife, from behind him, looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.26 Lot's wife looked back and turned into a column of salt.26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.26 And his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
 Now Abraham arose early in the morning and went to the place where he had stood before the LORD;27 And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the LORD:27 Early the next morning Abraham came to the place where he had stood in front of the LORD.27 Abraham got up early in the morning to the place where he had stood before Yahweh.27 And Abraham rose early in the morning and went to the place where he had stood before Jehovah;
and he looked down toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the valley, and he saw, and behold, the smoke of the land ascended like the smoke of a furnace.28 And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.28 When he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah and all the land in the plain, he saw smoke rising from the land like the thick smoke of a furnace.28 He looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and looked, and saw that the smoke of the land went up as the smoke of a furnace.28 and he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and lo, a smoke went up from the land as the smoke of a furnace.
Thus it came about, when God destroyed the cities of the valley, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when He overthrew the cities in which Lot lived.29 And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt.29 When God destroyed the cities on the plain, he remembered Abraham. Lot was allowed to escape from the destruction that came to the cities where he was living.29 It happened, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the middle of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in which Lot lived.29 And it came to pass when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in which Lot dwelt.
Lot Is Debased
Lot went up from Zoar, and stayed in the mountains, and his two daughters with him; for he was afraid to stay in Zoar; and he stayed in a cave, he and his two daughters.30 And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.30 Lot left Zoar because he was afraid to stay there. He and his two daughters settled in the mountains where they lived in a cave.30 Lot went up out of Zoar, and lived in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he was afraid to live in Zoar. He lived in a cave with his two daughters.30 And Lot went up from Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar. And he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.

Then the firstborn said to the younger, "Our father is old, and there is not a man on earth to come in to us after the manner of the earth.31 And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth:31 The older daughter said to the younger one, "Our father is old. No men are here. We can't get married as other people do.31 The firstborn said to the younger, "Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in to us in the way of all the earth.31 And the first-born said to the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the land to come in to us after the manner of all the earth:
"Come, let us make our father drink wine, and let us lie with him that we may preserve our family through our father."32 Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.32 Let's give our father wine to drink. Then we'll go to bed with him so that we'll be able to preserve our family line through our father."32 Come, let's make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve our father's seed."32 come, let us give our father wine to drink, and let us lie with him, that we may preserve seed alive of our father.
So they made their father drink wine that night, and the firstborn went in and lay with her father; and he did not know when she lay down or when she arose.33 And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.33 That night they gave their father wine to drink. Then the older one went to bed with her father. He didn't know when she came to bed or when she got up.33 They made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father. He didn't know when she lay down, nor when she arose.33 And they gave their father wine to drink that night. And the first-born went in, and lay with her father, and he did not know of her lying down, nor of her rising.
On the following day, the firstborn said to the younger, "Behold, I lay last night with my father; let us make him drink wine tonight also; then you go in and lie with him, that we may preserve our family through our father."34 And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.34 The next day the older daughter said to the younger one, "I did it! Last night I went to bed with my father. Let's give him wine to drink again tonight. Then you go to bed with him so that we'll be able to preserve our family line through our father."34 It came to pass on the next day, that the firstborn said to the younger, "Behold, I lay last night with my father. Let us make him drink wine again, tonight. You go in, and lie with him, that we may preserve our father's seed."34 And it came to pass on the next day that the first-born said to the younger, Lo, I lay last night with my father: let us give him wine to drink to-night also, and go thou in, lie with him, that we may preserve seed alive of our father.
So they made their father drink wine that night also, and the younger arose and lay with him; and he did not know when she lay down or when she arose.35 And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.35 That night they gave their father wine to drink again. Then the younger one went to bed with him. He didn't know when she came to bed or when she got up.35 They made their father drink wine that night also. The younger went and lay with him. He didn't know when she lay down, nor when she got up.35 And they gave their father wine to drink that night also. And the younger arose, and lay with him; and he did not know of her lying down, nor of her rising.

Thus both the daughters of Lot were with child by their father.36 Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.36 So Lot's two daughters became pregnant by their father.36 Thus both of Lot's daughters were with child by their father.36 And both the daughters of Lot were with child by their father.
The firstborn bore a son, and called his name Moab; he is the father of the Moabites to this day.37 And the first born bare a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of the Moabites unto this day.37 The older one gave birth to a son and named him Moab. He is the ancestor of the Moabites of today.37 The firstborn bore a son, and named him Moab. He is the father of the Moabites to this day.37 And the first-born bore a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of the Moabites to this day.
As for the younger, she also bore a son, and called his name Ben-ammi; he is the father of the sons of Ammon to this day.38 And the younger, she also bare a son, and called his name Benammi: the same is the father of the children of Ammon unto this day.38 The younger daughter also gave birth to a son and named him Ben Ammi. He is the ancestor of the Ammonites of today.38 The younger also bore a son, and called his name Ben Ammi. He is the father of the children of Ammon to this day.38 And the younger, she also bore a son, and called his name Ben-ammi; the same is the father of the children of Ammon to this day.
