Christ Is Our Advocate
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:1 My dear children, I'm writing this to you so that you will not sin. Yet, if anyone does sin, we have Jesus Christ, who has God's full approval. He speaks on our behalf when we come into the presence of the Father.1 My little children, I write these things to you so that you may not sin. If anyone sins, we have a Counselor with the Father, Jesus Christ, the righteous.1 My children, these things I write to you in order that ye may not sin; and if any one sin, we have a patron with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;
2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our's only, but also for the sins of the whole world.2 He is the payment for our sins, and not only for our sins, but also for the sins of the whole world.2 And he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the whole world.2 and he is the propitiation for our sins; but not for ours alone, but also for the whole world.
3 By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments.3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.3 We are sure that we know Christ if we obey his commandments.3 This is how we know that we know him: if we keep his commandments.3 And hereby we know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4 The one who says, "I have come to know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him;4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.4 The person who says, "I know him," but doesn't obey his commandments is a liar. The truth isn't in that person.4 One who says, "I know him," and doesn't keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth isn't in him.4 He that says, I know him, and does not keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him;
5 but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him:5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.5 But whoever obeys what Christ says is the kind of person in whom God's love is perfected. That's how we know we are in Christ.5 But whoever keeps his word, God's love has most certainly been perfected in him. This is how we know that we are in him:5 but whoever keeps his word, in him verily the love of God is perfected. Hereby we know that we are in him.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
6 the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked.6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.6 Those who say that they live in him must live the same way he lived.6 he who says he remains in him ought himself also to walk just like he walked.6 He that says he abides in him ought, even as he walked, himself also so to walk.
7 Beloved, I am not writing a new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning; the old commandment is the word which you have heard.7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.7 Dear friends, it's not as though I'm writing to give you a new commandment. Rather, I'm giving you an old commandment that you've had from the beginning. It's the old commandment you've already heard.7 Brothers, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you heard from the beginning.7 Beloved, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment, which ye have had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye heard.
8 On the other hand, I am writing a new commandment to you, which is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true Light is already shining.8 Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.8 On the other hand, I'm writing to give you a new commandment. It's a truth that exists in Christ and in you: The darkness is fading, and the true light is already shining.8 Again, I write a new commandment to you, which is true in him and in you; because the darkness is passing away, and the true light already shines.8 Again, I write a new commandment to you, which thing is true in him and in you, because the darkness is passing and the true light already shines.
9 The one who says he is in the Light and yet hates his brother is in the darkness until now.9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.9 Those who say that they are in the light but hate other believers are still in the dark.9 He who says he is in the light and hates his brother, is in the darkness even until now.9 He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in the darkness until now.
10 The one who loves his brother abides in the Light and there is no cause for stumbling in him.10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.10 Those who love other believers live in the light. Nothing will destroy the faith of those who live in the light.10 He who loves his brother remains in the light, and there is no occasion for stumbling in him.10 He that loves his brother abides in light, and there is no occasion of stumbling in him.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
11 But the one who hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going because the darkness has blinded his eyes.11 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.11 Those who hate other believers are in the dark and live in the dark. They don't know where they're going, because they can't see in the dark.11 But he who hates his brother is in the darkness, and walks in the darkness, and doesn't know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.11 But he that hates his brother is in the darkness, and walks in the darkness, and knows not where he goes, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
12 I am writing to you, little children, because your sins have been forgiven you for His name's sake.12 I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.12 I'm writing to you, dear children, because your sins are forgiven through Christ.12 I write to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.12 I write to you, children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.
13 I am writing to you, fathers, because you know Him who has been from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I have written to you, children, because you know the Father.13 I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.13 I'm writing to you, fathers, because you know Christ who has existed from the beginning. I'm writing to you, young people, because you have won the victory over the evil one.13 I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I write to you, little children, because you know the Father.13 I write to you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write to you, little children, because ye have known the Father.
14 I have written to you, fathers, because you know Him who has been from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one.14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.14 I've written to you, children, because you know the Father. I've written to you, fathers, because you know Christ, who has existed from the beginning. I've written to you, young people, because you are strong and God's word lives in you. You have won the victory over the evil one.14 I have written to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God remains in you, and you have overcome the evil one.14 I have written to you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.
Do Not Love the World
15 Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.15 Don't love the world and what it offers. Those who love the world don't have the Father's love in them.15 Don't love the world, neither the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the Father's love isn't in him.15 Love not the world, nor the things in the world. If any one love the world, the love of the Father is not in him;
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.16 Not everything that the world offers-physical gratification, greed, and extravagant lifestyles-comes from the Father. It comes from the world, and16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, isn't the Father's, but is the world's.16 because all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever.17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.17 the world and its evil desires are passing away. But the person who does what God wants lives forever.17 The world is passing away with its lusts, but he who does God's will remains forever.17 And the world is passing, and its lust, but he that does the will of God abides for eternity.
18 Children, it is the last hour; and just as you heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have appeared; from this we know that it is the last hour.18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.18 Children, it's the end of time. You've heard that an antichrist is coming. Certainly, many antichrists are already here. That's how we know it's the end of time.18 Little children, these are the end times, and as you heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have arisen. By this we know that it is the final hour.18 Little children, it is the last hour, and, according as ye have heard that antichrist comes, even now there have come many antichrists, whence we know that it is the last hour.
19 They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, so that it would be shown that they all are not of us.19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.19 They left us. However, they were never really part of us. If they had been, they would have stayed with us. But by leaving they made it clear that none of them were part of us.19 They went out from us, but they didn't belong to us; for if they had belonged to us, they would have continued with us. But they left, that they might be revealed that none of them belong to us.19 They went out from among us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have surely remained with us, but that they might be made manifest that none are of us.
20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all know.20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.20 The Holy One has anointed you, so all of you have knowledge.20 You have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all have knowledge.20 And ye have the unction from the holy one, and ye know all things.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it, and because no lie is of the truth.21 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.21 I'm writing to you because you know the truth, not because you don't know the truth. You know that no lie ever comes from the truth.21 I have not written to you because you don't know the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth.21 I have not written to you because ye do not know the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
22 Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son.22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.22 Who is a liar? Who else but the person who rejects Jesus as the Messiah? The person who rejects the Father and the Son is an antichrist.22 Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the Antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son.22 Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is the antichrist who denies the Father and the Son.
23 Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father; the one who confesses the Son has the Father also.23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.23 Everyone who rejects the Son doesn't have the Father either. The person who acknowledges the Son also has the Father.23 Whoever denies the Son, the same doesn't have the Father. He who confesses the Son has the Father also.23 Whoever denies the Son has not the Father either; he who confesses the Son has the Father also.
24 As for you, let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father.24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.24 Make sure that the message you heard from the beginning lives in you. If that message lives in you, you will also live in the Son and in the Father.24 Therefore, as for you, let that remain in you which you heard from the beginning. If that which you heard from the beginning remains in you, you also will remain in the Son, and in the Father.24 As for you let that which ye have heard from the beginning abide in you: if what ye have heard from the beginning abides in you, ye also shall abide in the Son and in the Father.
The Promise Is Eternal Life
25 This is the promise which He Himself made to us: eternal life.25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.25 Christ has given us the promise of eternal life.25 This is the promise which he promised us, the eternal life.25 And this is the promise which he has promised us, life eternal.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
26 These things I have written to you concerning those who are trying to deceive you.26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.26 I'm writing to you about those who are trying to deceive you.26 These things I have written to you concerning those who would lead you astray.26 These things have I written to you concerning those who lead you astray:
27 As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.27 The anointing you received from Christ lives in you. You don't need anyone to teach you something else. Instead, Christ's anointing teaches you about everything. His anointing is true and contains no lie. So live in Christ as he taught you to do.27 As for you, the anointing which you received from him remains in you, and you don't need for anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is no lie, and even as it taught you, you will remain in him.27 and yourselves, the unction which ye have received from him abides in you, and ye have not need that any one should teach you; but as the same unction teaches you as to all things, and is true and is not a lie, and even as it has taught you, ye shall abide in him.
28 Now, little children, abide in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not shrink away from Him in shame at His coming.28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.28 Now, dear children, live in Christ. Then, when he appears we will have confidence, and when he comes we won't turn from him in shame.28 Now, little children, remain in him, that when he appears, we may have boldness, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.28 And now, children, abide in him, that if he be manifested we may have boldness, and not be put to shame from before him at his coming.
29 If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone also who practices righteousness is born of Him.29 If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.29 If you know that Christ has God's approval, you also know that everyone who does what God approves of has been born from God.29 If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of him.29 If ye know that he is righteous, know that every one who practises righteousness is begotten of him.
