1 Paul, a bond-servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the faith of those chosen of God and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness,1 Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;1 From Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ. I was sent to lead God's chosen people to faith and to the knowledge of the truth that leads to a godly life.1 Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's chosen ones, and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness,1 Paul, bondman of God, and apostle of Jesus Christ according to the faith of God's elect, and knowledge of the truth which is according to piety;
2 in the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised long ages ago,2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;2 My message is based on the confidence of eternal life. God, who never lies, promised this eternal life before the world began.2 in hope of eternal life, which God, who can't lie, promised before time began;2 in the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the ages of time,
3 but at the proper time manifested, even His word, in the proclamation with which I was entrusted according to the commandment of God our Savior,3 But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;3 God has revealed this in every era by spreading his word. I was entrusted with this word by the command of God our Savior.3 but in his own time revealed his word in the message with which I was entrusted according to the commandment of God our Savior;3 but has manifested in its own due season his word, in the proclamation with which I have been entrusted, according to the commandment of our Saviour God;
4 To Titus, my true child in a common faith: Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.4 To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.4 To Titus, a genuine child in the faith we share. Good will and peace from God the Father and from Christ Jesus our Savior are yours! 4 to Titus, my true child according to a common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior.4 to Titus, my own child according to the faith common to us: Grace and peace from God the Father, and Christ Jesus our Saviour.
Qualifications of Elders
5 For this reason I left you in Crete, that you would set in order what remains and appoint elders in every city as I directed you,5 For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:5 I left you in Crete to do what still needed to be done-appointing spiritual leaders in every city as I directed you. 5 I left you in Crete for this reason, that you would set in order the things that were lacking, and appoint elders in every city, as I directed you;5 For this cause I left thee in Crete, that thou mightest go on to set right what remained unordered, and establish elders in each city, as I had ordered thee:

6 namely, if any man is above reproach, the husband of one wife, having children who believe, not accused of dissipation or rebellion.6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.6 A spiritual leader must have a good reputation. He must have only one wife and have children who are believers. His children shouldn't be known for having wild lifestyles or being rebellious.6 if anyone is blameless, the husband of one wife, having children who believe, who are not accused of loose or unruly behavior.6 if any one be free from all charge against him, husband of one wife, having believing children not accused of excess or unruly.
7 For the overseer must be above reproach as God's steward, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not addicted to wine, not pugnacious, not fond of sordid gain,7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;7 Because a bishop is a supervisor appointed by God, he must have a good reputation. He must not be a stubborn or irritable person. He must not drink too much or be a violent person. He must not use shameful ways to make money. 7 For the overseer must be blameless, as God's steward; not self-pleasing, not easily angered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for dishonest gain;7 For the overseer must be free from all charge against him as God's steward; not headstrong, not passionate, not disorderly through wine, not a striker, not seeking gain by base means;
8 but hospitable, loving what is good, sensible, just, devout, self-controlled,8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;8 Instead, he must be hospitable, love what is good, use good judgment, be fair and moral, and have self-control.8 but given to hospitality, a lover of good, sober minded, fair, holy, self-controlled;8 but hospitable, a lover of goodness, discreet, just, pious, temperate,
9 holding fast the faithful word which is in accordance with the teaching, so that he will be able both to exhort in sound doctrine and to refute those who contradict.9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.9 He must be devoted to the trustworthy message we teach. Then he can use these accurate teachings to encourage people and correct those who oppose the word.9 holding to the faithful word which is according to the teaching, that he may be able to exhort in the sound doctrine, and to convict those who contradict him.9 clinging to the faithful word according to the doctrine taught, that he may be able both to encourage with sound teaching and refute gainsayers.
10 For there are many rebellious men, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision,10 For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:10 There are many believers, especially converts from Judaism, who are rebellious. They speak nonsense and deceive people.10 For there are also many unruly men, vain talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision,10 For there are many and disorderly vain speakers and deceivers of people's minds, specially those of the circumcision,

11 who must be silenced because they are upsetting whole families, teaching things they should not teach for the sake of sordid gain.11 Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.11 They must be silenced because they are ruining whole families by teaching what they shouldn't teach. This is the shameful way they make money.11 whose mouths must be stopped; men who overthrow whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for dishonest gain's sake.11 who must have their mouths stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which ought not to be taught for the sake of base gain.
12 One of themselves, a prophet of their own, said, "Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons."12 One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.12 Even one of their own prophets said, "Cretans are always liars, savage animals, and lazy gluttons."12 One of them, a prophet of their own, said, "Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, and idle gluttons."12 One of themselves, a prophet of their own, has said, Cretans are always liars, evil wild beasts, lazy gluttons.
13 This testimony is true. For this reason reprove them severely so that they may be sound in the faith,13 This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;13 That statement is true. For this reason, sharply correct believers so that they continue to have faith that is alive and well.13 This testimony is true. But nothing is clean to corrupt unbelievers. 16 They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed.16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.16 They claim to know God, but they deny him by what they do.
