The Triumphal Entry
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
1 When they had approached Jerusalem and had come to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,1 And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples,1 When they came near Jerusalem and had reached Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples ahead of him.1 When they drew near to Jerusalem, and came to Bethsphage, to the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,1 And when they drew near to Jerusalem and came to Bethphage, at the mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,
2 saying to them, "Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied there and a colt with her; untie them and bring them to Me.2 Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me.2 He said to them, "Go into the village ahead of you. You will find a donkey tied there and a colt with it. Untie them, and bring them to me.2 saying to them, "Go into the village that is opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Untie them, and bring them to me.2 saying to them, Go into the village over against you, and immediately ye will find an ass tied, and a colt with it; loose them and lead them to me.
3 "If anyone says anything to you, you shall say, 'The Lord has need of them,' and immediately he will send them."3 And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them.3 If anyone says anything to you, tell him that the Lord needs them. That person will send them at once."3 If anyone says anything to you, you shall say, 'The Lord needs them,' and immediately he will send them."3 And if any one say anything to you, ye shall say, The Lord has need of them, and straightway he will send them.
4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:4 All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,4 This happened so that what the prophet had said came true:4 All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying,4 But all this came to pass, that that might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying,
5 "SAY TO THE DAUGHTER OF ZION, 'BEHOLD YOUR KING IS COMING TO YOU, GENTLE, AND MOUNTED ON A DONKEY, EVEN ON A COLT, THE FOAL OF A BEAST OF BURDEN.'"5 Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.5 "Tell the people of Zion, 'Your king is coming to you. He's gentle, riding on a donkey, on a colt, a young pack animal.'"5 "Tell the daughter of Zion, behold, your King comes to you, humble, and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey."5 Say to the daughter of Zion, Behold thy King cometh to thee, meek, and mounted upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
6 The disciples went and did just as Jesus had instructed them,6 And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them,6 The disciples did as Jesus had directed them.6 The disciples went, and did just as Jesus commanded them,6 But the disciples, having gone and done as Jesus had ordered them,
7 and brought the donkey and the colt, and laid their coats on them; and He sat on the coats.7 And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon.7 They brought the donkey and the colt and put their coats on them for Jesus to sit on.7 and brought the donkey and the colt, and laid their clothes on them; and he sat on them.7 brought the ass and the colt and put their garments upon them, and he sat on them.
8 Most of the crowd spread their coats in the road, and others were cutting branches from the trees and spreading them in the road.8 And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.8 Most of the people spread their coats on the road. Others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.8 A very great multitude spread their clothes on the road. Others cut branches from the trees, and spread them on the road.8 But a very great crowd strewed their own garments on the way, and others kept cutting down branches from the trees and strewing them on the way.
9 The crowds going ahead of Him, and those who followed, were shouting, "Hosanna to the Son of David; BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD; Hosanna in the highest!"9 And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.9 The crowd that went ahead of him and that followed him was shouting, "Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!"9 The multitudes who went before him, and who followed kept shouting, "Hosanna to the son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!"9 And the crowds who went before him and who followed cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David; blessed be he who comes in the name of the Lord; hosanna in the highest.
10 When He had entered Jerusalem, all the city was stirred, saying, "Who is this?"10 And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?10 When Jesus came into Jerusalem, the whole city was in an uproar. People were asking, "Who is this?"10 When he had come into Jerusalem, all the city was stirred up, saying, "Who is this?"10 And as he entered into Jerusalem, the whole city was moved, saying, Who is this?
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
11 And the crowds were saying, "This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth in Galilee."11 And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.11 The crowd answered, "This is the prophet Jesus from Nazareth in Galilee."11 The multitudes said, "This is the prophet, Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee."11 And the crowds said, This is Jesus the prophet who is from Nazareth of Galilee.
Cleansing the Temple
12 And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all those who were buying and selling in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who were selling doves.12 And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,12 Jesus went into the temple courtyard and threw out everyone who was buying and selling there. He overturned the moneychangers' tables and the chairs of those who sold pigeons.12 Jesus entered into the temple of God, and drove out all of those who sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the money changers' tables and the seats of those who sold the doves.12 And Jesus entered into the temple of God, and cast out all that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those that sold the doves.
13 And He said to them, "It is written, 'MY HOUSE SHALL BE CALLED A HOUSE OF PRAYER'; but you are making it a ROBBERS' DEN."13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.13 He told them, "Scripture says, 'My house will be called a house of prayer,' but you're turning it into a gathering place for thieves!"13 He said to them, "It is written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer,' but you have made it a den of robbers!"13 And he says to them, It is written, My house shall be called a house of prayer, but ye have made it a den of robbers.
14 And the blind and the lame came to Him in the temple, and He healed them.14 And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them.14 Blind and lame people came to him in the temple courtyard, and he healed them.14 The blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he healed them.14 And blind and lame came to him in the temple, and he healed them.
15 But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that He had done, and the children who were shouting in the temple, "Hosanna to the Son of David," they became indignant15 And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the son of David; they were sore displeased,15 When the chief priests and the scribes saw the amazing miracles he performed and the children shouting in the temple courtyard, "Hosanna to the Son of David!" they were irritated.15 But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children who were crying in the temple and saying, "Hosanna to the son of David!" they were indignant,15 And when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonders which he wrought, and the children crying in the temple and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David, they were indignant,
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
16 and said to Him, "Do You hear what these children are saying?" And Jesus said to them, "Yes; have you never read, 'OUT OF THE MOUTH OF INFANTS AND NURSING BABIES YOU HAVE PREPARED PRAISE FOR YOURSELF'?"16 And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?16 They said to him, "Do you hear what these children are saying?" Jesus replied, "Yes, I do. Have you never read, 'From the mouths of little children and infants, you have created praise'?"16 and said to him, "Do you hear what these are saying?" Jesus said to them, "Yes. Did you never read, 'Out of the mouth of babes and nursing babies you have perfected praise?'"16 and said to him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus says to them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?
17 And He left them and went out of the city to Bethany, and spent the night there.17 And he left them, and went out of the city into Bethany; and he lodged there.17 He left them and went out of the city to Bethany and spent the night there.17 He left them, and went out of the city to Bethany, and lodged there.17 And leaving them he went forth out of the city to Bethany, and there he passed the night.
The Barren Fig Tree
18 Now in the morning, when He was returning to the city, He became hungry.18 Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered.18 In the morning, as Jesus returned to the city, he became hungry.18 Now in the morning, as he returned to the city, he was hungry.18 But early in the morning, as he came back into the city, he hungered.
19 Seeing a lone fig tree by the road, He came to it and found nothing on it except leaves only; and He said to it, "No longer shall there ever be any fruit from you." And at once the fig tree withered.19 And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.19 When he saw a fig tree by the road, he went up to the tree and found nothing on it but leaves. He said to the tree, "May fruit never grow on you again!" At once the fig tree dried up.19 Seeing a fig tree by the road, he came to it, and found nothing on it but leaves. He said to it, "Let there be no fruit from you forever!" Immediately the fig tree withered away.19 And seeing one fig-tree in the way, he came to it and found on it nothing but leaves only. And he says to it, Let there be never more fruit of thee for ever. And the fig-tree was immediately dried up.
20 Seeing this, the disciples were amazed and asked, "How did the fig tree wither all at once?"20 And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away!20 The disciples were surprised to see this. They asked, "How did the fig tree dry up so quickly?"20 When the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, "How did the fig tree immediately wither away?"20 And when the disciples saw it, they wondered, saying, How immediately is the fig-tree dried up!
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
21 And Jesus answered and said to them, "Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' it will happen.21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.21 Jesus answered them, "I can guarantee this truth: If you have faith and do not doubt, you will be able to do what I did to the fig tree. You could also say to this mountain, 'Be uprooted and thrown into the sea,' and it will happen.21 Jesus answered them, "Most certainly I tell you, if you have faith, and don't doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you told this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' it would be done.21 And Jesus answering said to them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and do not doubt, not only shall ye do what is done to the fig-tree, but even if ye should say to this mountain, Be thou taken away and be thou cast into the sea, it shall come to pass.
22 "And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive."22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.22 Have faith that you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."22 All things, whatever you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive."22 And all things whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
Authority Challenged
23 When He entered the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to Him while He was teaching, and said, "By what authority are You doing these things, and who gave You this authority?"23 And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?23 Then Jesus went into the temple courtyard and began to teach. The chief priests and the leaders of the people came to him. They asked, "What gives you the right to do these things? Who told you that you could do this?"23 When he had come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him as he was teaching, and said, "By what authority do you do these things? Who gave you this authority?"23 And when he came into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him as he was teaching, saying, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?
24 Jesus said to them, "I will also ask you one thing, which if you tell Me, I will also tell you by what authority I do these things.24 And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things.24 Jesus answered them, "I, too, have a question for you. If you answer it for me, I'll tell you why I have the right to do these things.24 Jesus answered them, "I also will ask you one question, which if you tell me, I likewise will tell you by what authority I do these things.24 And Jesus answering said to them, I also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me, I also will tell you by what authority I do these things:
25 "The baptism of John was from what source, from heaven or from men?" And they began reasoning among themselves, saying, "If we say, 'From heaven,' He will say to us, 'Then why did you not believe him?'25 The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him?25 Did John's right to baptize come from heaven or from humans?" They discussed this among themselves. They said, "If we say, 'from heaven,' he will ask us, 'Then why didn't you believe him?'25 The baptism of John, where was it from? From heaven or from men?" They reasoned with themselves, saying, "If we say, 'From heaven,' he will ask us, 'Why then did you not believe him?'25 The baptism of John, whence was it? of heaven or of men? And they reasoned among themselves, saying, If we should say, Of heaven, he will say to us, Why then have ye not believed him?
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
26 "But if we say, 'From men,' we fear the people; for they all regard John as a prophet."26 But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet.26 But if we say, 'from humans,' we're afraid of what the crowd might do. All those people think of John as a prophet."26 But if we say, 'From men,' we fear the multitude, for all hold John as a prophet."26 but if we should say, Of men, we fear the crowd, for all hold John for a prophet.
27 And answering Jesus, they said, "We do not know." He also said to them, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.27 And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.27 So they answered Jesus, "We don't know." Jesus told them, "Then I won't tell you why I have the right to do these things.27 They answered Jesus, and said, "We don't know." He also said to them, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.27 And answering Jesus they said, We do not know. He also said to them, Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.
Parable of Two Sons
28 "But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, 'Son, go work today in the vineyard.'28 But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard.28 "What do you think about this? A man had two sons. He went to the first and said, 'Son, go to work in the vineyard today.'28 But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first, and said, 'Son, go work today in my vineyard.'28 But what think ye? A man had two children, and coming to the first he said, Child, go to-day, work in my vineyard.
29 "And he answered, 'I will not'; but afterward he regretted it and went.29 He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went.29 "His son replied, 'I don't want to!' But later he changed his mind and went.29 He answered, 'I will not,' but afterward he changed his mind, and went.29 And he answering said, I will not; but afterwards repenting himself he went.
30 "The man came to the second and said the same thing; and he answered, 'I will, sir'; but he did not go.30 And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.30 "The father went to the other son and told him the same thing. He replied, 'I will, sir,' but he didn't go.30 He came to the second, and said the same thing. He answered, 'I go, sir,' but he didn't go.30 And coming to the second he said likewise; and he answering said, I go, sir, and went not.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
31 "Which of the two did the will of his father?" They said, "The first." Jesus said to them, "Truly I say to you that the tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the kingdom of God before you.31 Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.31 "Which of the two sons did what the father wanted?" "The first," they answered. Jesus said to them, "I can guarantee this truth: Tax collectors and prostitutes are going into the kingdom of God ahead of you.31 Which of the two did the will of his father?" They said to him, "The first." Jesus said to them, "Most certainly I tell you that the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering into the Kingdom of God before you.31 Which of the two did the will of the father? They say to him, The first. Jesus says to them, Verily I say unto you that the tax-gatherers and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.
32 "For John came to you in the way of righteousness and you did not believe him; but the tax collectors and prostitutes did believe him; and you, seeing this, did not even feel remorse afterward so as to believe him.32 For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.32 John came to you and showed you the way that God wants you to live, but you didn't believe him. The tax collectors and prostitutes believed him. But even after you had seen that, you didn't change your minds and believe him.32 For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you didn't believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. When you saw it, you didn't even repent afterward, that you might believe him.32 For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not; but the tax-gatherers and the harlots believed him; but ye when ye saw it repented not yourselves afterwards to believe him.
Parable of the Landowner
33 "Listen to another parable. There was a landowner who PLANTED A VINEYARD AND PUT A WALL AROUND IT AND DUG A WINE PRESS IN IT, AND BUILT A TOWER, and rented it out to vine-growers and went on a journey.33 Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country:33 "Listen to another illustration. A landowner planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it, made a winepress, and built a watchtower. Then he leased it to vineyard workers and went on a trip.33 "Hear another parable. There was a man who was a master of a household, who planted a vineyard, set a hedge about it, dug a winepress in it, built a tower, leased it out to farmers, and went into another country.33 Hear another parable: There was a householder who planted a vineyard, and made a fence round it, and dug a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and left the country.
34 "When the harvest time approached, he sent his slaves to the vine-growers to receive his produce.34 And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it.34 "When the grapes were getting ripe, he sent his servants to the workers to collect his share of the produce.34 When the season for the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the farmers, to receive his fruit.34 But when the time of fruit drew near, he sent his bondmen to the husbandmen to receive his fruits.
35 "The vine-growers took his slaves and beat one, and killed another, and stoned a third.35 And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.35 The workers took his servants and beat one, killed another, and stoned a third to death.35 The farmers took his servants, beat one, killed another, and stoned another.35 And the husbandmen took his bondmen, and beat one, killed another, and stoned another.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
36 "Again he sent another group of slaves larger than the first; and they did the same thing to them.36 Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise.36 So the landowner sent more servants. But the workers treated them the same way.36 Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they treated them the same way.36 Again he sent other bondmen more than the first, and they did to them in like manner.
37 "But afterward he sent his son to them, saying, 'They will respect my son.'37 But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.37 "Finally, he sent his son to them. He thought, 'They will respect my son.'37 But afterward he sent to them his son, saying, 'They will respect my son.'37 And at last he sent to them his son, saying, They will have respect for my son.
38 "But when the vine-growers saw the son, they said among themselves, 'This is the heir; come, let us kill him and seize his inheritance.'38 But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.38 "When the workers saw his son, they said to one another, 'This is the heir. Let's kill him and get his inheritance.'38 But the farmers, when they saw the son, said among themselves, 'This is the heir. Come, let's kill him, and seize his inheritance.'38 But the husbandmen, seeing the son, said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him and possess his inheritance.
39 "They took him, and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.39 And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him.39 So they grabbed him, threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him.39 So they took him, and threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him.39 And they took him, and cast him forth out of the vineyard, and killed him.
40 "Therefore when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those vine-growers?"40 When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen?40 "Now, when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those workers?"40 When therefore the lord of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those farmers?"40 When therefore the lord of the vineyard comes, what shall he do to those husbandmen?
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
41 They said to Him, "He will bring those wretches to a wretched end, and will rent out the vineyard to other vine-growers who will pay him the proceeds at the proper seasons."41 They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.41 They answered, "He will destroy those evil people. Then he will lease the vineyard to other workers who will give him his share of the produce when it is ready."41 They told him, "He will miserably destroy those miserable men, and will lease out the vineyard to other farmers, who will give him the fruit in its season."41 They say to him, He will miserably destroy those evil men, and let out the vineyard to other husbandmen, who shall render him the fruits in their seasons.
42 Jesus said to them, "Did you never read in the Scriptures, 'THE STONE WHICH THE BUILDERS REJECTED, THIS BECAME THE CHIEF CORNER stone; THIS CAME ABOUT FROM THE LORD, AND IT IS MARVELOUS IN OUR EYES '?42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?42 Jesus asked them, "Have you never read in the Scriptures: 'The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. The Lord is responsible for this, and it is amazing for us to see'?42 Jesus said to them, "Did you never read in the Scriptures, 'The stone which the builders rejected, the same was made the head of the corner. This was from the Lord. It is marvelous in our eyes?'42 Jesus says to them, Have ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which they that builded rejected, this has become the corner-stone: this is of the Lord, and it is wonderful in our eyes?
43 "Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people, producing the fruit of it.43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.43 That is why I can guarantee that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce what God wants.43 "Therefore I tell you, the Kingdom of God will be taken away from you, and will be given to a nation bringing forth its fruit.43 Therefore I say to you, that the kingdom of God shall be taken from you and shall be given to a nation producing the fruits of it.
44 "And he who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; but on whomever it falls, it will scatter him like dust."44 And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.44 Anyone who falls on this stone will be broken. If the stone falls on anyone, it will crush that person." 44 He who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but on whoever it will fall, it will scatter him as dust."44 And he that falls on this stone shall be broken, but on whomsoever it shall fall, it shall grind him to powder.
45 When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard His parables, they understood that He was speaking about them.45 And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them.45 When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his illustrations, they knew that he was talking about them.45 When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they perceived that he spoke about them.45 And the chief priests and the Pharisees, having heard his parables, knew that he spoke about them.
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
46 When they sought to seize Him, they feared the people, because they considered Him to be a prophet.46 But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.46 They wanted to arrest him but were afraid of the crowds, who thought he was a prophet.46 When they sought to seize him, they feared the multitudes, because they considered him to be a prophet.46 And seeking to lay hold of him, they were afraid of the crowds, because they held him for a prophet.
