 And he came into all the district around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins;3 And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;3 John traveled throughout the region around the Jordan River. 4 as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, "THE VOICE OF ONE CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS, 'MAKE READY THE WAY OF THE LORD, MAKE HIS PATHS STRAIGHT.4 As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.4 As the prophet Isaiah wrote in his book, "A voice cries out in the desert: 'Prepare the way for the Lord! 6 AND ALL FLESH WILL SEE THE SALVATION OF GOD.'"6 And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.6 All people will see the salvation that God gives.'"6 All flesh will see God's salvation.'"6 and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.
 So he began saying to the crowds who were going out to be baptized by him, "You brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?7 Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?7 Crowds of people were coming to be baptized by John. He would say to them, "You poisonous snakes! Who showed you how to flee from God's coming anger?7 He said therefore to the multitudes who went out to be baptized by him, "You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?7 He said therefore to the crowds which went out to be baptised by him, Offspring of vipers, who has forewarned you to flee from the coming wrath?
 "Therefore bear fruits in keeping with repentance, and do not begin to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham for our father,' for I say to you that from these stones God is able to raise up children to Abraham.8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.8 Do those things that prove that you have turned to God and have changed the way you think and act. Don't say, 'Abraham is our ancestor.' I guarantee that God can raise up descendants for Abraham from these stones.8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and don't begin to say among yourselves, 'We have Abraham for our father;' for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones!8 Produce therefore fruits worthy of repentance; and begin not to say in yourselves, We have Abraham for our father, for I say unto you that God is able of these stones to raise up children to Abraham.
 "Indeed the axe is already laid at the root of the trees; so every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire."9 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.9 The ax is now ready to cut the roots of the trees. Any tree that doesn't produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into a fire."9 Even now the axe also lies at the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that doesn't bring forth good fruit is cut down, and thrown into the fire."9 And already also the axe is applied to the root of the trees; every tree therefore not producing good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire.
 And the crowds were questioning him, saying, "Then what shall we do?"10 And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then?10 The crowds asked him, "What should we do?"10 The multitudes asked him, "What then must we do?"10 And the crowds asked him saying, What should we do then?

 And he would answer and say to them, "The man who has two tunics is to share with him who has none; and he who has food is to do likewise."11 He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise.11 He answered them, "Whoever has two shirts should share with the person who doesn't have any. Whoever has food should share it too."11 He answered them, "He who has two coats, let him give to him who has none. He who has food, let him do likewise."11 And he answering says to them, He that has two body-coats, let him give to him that has none; and he that has food, let him do likewise.
 And some tax collectors also came to be baptized, and they said to him, "Teacher, what shall we do?"12 Then came also publicans to be baptized, and said unto him, Master, what shall we do?12 Some tax collectors came to be baptized. They asked him, "Teacher, what should we do?"12 Tax collectors also came to be baptized, and they said to him, "Teacher, what must we do?"12 And tax-gatherers came also to be baptised, and they said to him, Teacher, what should we do?
 And he said to them, "Collect no more than what you have been ordered to."13 And he said unto them, Exact no more than that which is appointed you.13 He told them, "Don't collect more money than you are ordered to collect."13 He said to them, "Collect no more than that which is appointed to you."13 And he said to them, Take no more money than what is appointed to you.
 Some soldiers were questioning him, saying, "And what about us, what shall we do?" And he said to them, "Do not take money from anyone by force, or accuse anyone falsely, and be content with your wages."14 And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.14 Some soldiers asked him, "And what should we do?" He told them, "Be satisfied with your pay, and never use threats or blackmail to get money from anyone."14 Soldiers also asked him, saying, "What about us? What must we do?" He said to them, "Extort from no one by violence, neither accuse anyone wrongfully. Be content with your wages."14 And persons engaged in military service also asked him saying, And we, what should we do? And he said to them, Oppress no one, nor accuse falsely, and be satisfied with your pay.
 Now while the people were in a state of expectation and all were wondering in their hearts about John, as to whether he was the Christ,15 And as the people were in expectation, and all men mused in their hearts of John, whether he were the Christ, or not;15 People's hopes were rising as they all wondered whether John was the Messiah.15 As the people were in expectation, and all men reasoned in their hearts concerning John, whether perhaps he was the Christ,15 But as the people were in expectation, and all were reasoning in their hearts concerning John whether he might be the Christ,

 John answered and said to them all, "As for me, I baptize you with water; but One is coming who is mightier than I, and I am not fit to untie the thong of His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:16 John replied to all of them, "I baptize you with water. But the one who is more powerful than I is coming. I am not worthy to untie his sandal straps. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.16 John answered them all, "I indeed baptize you with water, but he comes who is mightier than I, the latchet of whose sandals I am not worthy to loosen. He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and fire,16 John answered all, saying, I indeed baptise you with water, but the mightier than I is coming, the thong of whose sandals I am not fit to unloose; he shall baptise you with the Holy Spirit and fire;
 "His winnowing fork is in His hand to thoroughly clear His threshing floor, and to gather the wheat into His barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire."17 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable.17 His winnowing shovel is in his hand to clean up his threshing floor. He will gather the wheat into his barn, but he will burn the husks in a fire that can never be put out." 17 whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor, and will gather the wheat into his barn; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire."17 whose winnowing-fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his threshing-floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner, but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable.
 So with many other exhortations he preached the gospel to the people.18 And many other things in his exhortation preached he unto the people.18 With many other encouraging words, he told the Good News to the people.18 Then with many other exhortations he preached good news to the people,18 Exhorting then many other things also he announced his glad tidings to the people.
 But when Herod the tetrarch was reprimanded by him because of Herodias, his brother's wife, and because of all the wicked things which Herod had done,19 But Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias his brother Philip's wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done,19 John spoke out against the ruler Herod because Herod had married his own sister-in-law, Herodias. He also spoke out against Herod for all the evil things he had done.19 but Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias, his brother's wife, and for all the evil things which Herod had done,19 But Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him as to Herodias, the wife of his brother, and as to all the wicked things which Herod had done,
 Herod also added this to them all: he locked John up in prison.20 Added yet this above all, that he shut up John in prison.20 So Herod added one more evil to all the others; he locked John in prison.20 added this also to them all, that he shut up John in prison.20 added this also to all the rest, that he shut up John in prison.
Jesus Is Baptized
NASBKJVGWTWEBDBY
 Now when all the people were baptized, Jesus was also baptized, and while He was praying, heaven was opened,21 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,21 When all the people were baptized, Jesus, too, was baptized. While he was praying, heaven opened,21 Now it happened, when all the people were baptized, Jesus also had been baptized, and was praying. The sky was opened,21 And it came to pass, all the people having been baptised, and Jesus having been baptised and praying, that the heaven was opened,
 and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in bodily form like a dove, and a voice came out of heaven, "You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased."22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.22 and the Holy Spirit came down to him in the form of a dove. A voice from heaven said, "You are my Son, whom I love. I am pleased with you."22 and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily form as a dove on him; and a voice came out of the sky, saying "You are my beloved Son. In you I am well pleased."22 and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily form as a dove upon him; and a voice came out of heaven, Thou art my beloved Son, in thee I have found my delight.
